New Delhi, March 10 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah offered his heartfelt greetings to the members of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on their Raising Day this Tuesday. He commended the force for its unwavering dedication, professionalism, and patriotic service to India.

The CISF Raising Day is celebrated annually on March 10 to commemorate the establishment of the Central Industrial Security Force in 1969. This date is significant as it acknowledges the crucial role the force plays in safeguarding the nation’s essential infrastructure, which includes airports, metro systems, public sector enterprises, and other strategic sites.

In a message shared on X, HM Shah expressed his appreciation for the personnel of the CISF and recognized their commitment to undertaking demanding security responsibilities nationwide.

“Best wishes to the CISF personnel on Raising Day. Their commitment to protecting the nation’s critical installations and their resolve during emergencies embody the true essence of patriotism and professionalism. We pay tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our country,” the Home Minister stated.

The CISF also celebrated this event by reaching out to its staff and emphasizing its long-term dedication to national security and infrastructure protection.

“For 57 years, the Central Industrial Security Force has been the guardian of India’s crucial infrastructure, protecting vital assets with relentless vigilance, discipline, and professionalism,” stated the force in a communiqué.

“On CISF Raising Day, we reaffirm our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security and service, adhering to our motto: Protection and Security. Nation First. Always,” it further added.

Originally, the CISF was formed with limited resources aimed at securing only industries fully owned by the Central Government. However, its responsibilities have dramatically expanded over the years, and the force now also secures joint-venture firms where the Central Government has a stake.

Operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs, the CISF adheres to the guidelines established by the ministry. Over time, it has transformed into one of the most vital security entities in the nation, tasked with protecting key economic and strategic assets.

The motivation behind creating a specialized force like the CISF emerged following the challenging India-Pakistan war of 1965. During this conflict, the security of public sector institutions and critical facilities, such as oil refineries and power plants, was significantly threatened.

Recognizing the necessity for a dedicated security force to safeguard these installations, the Government of India laid the groundwork for the Central Industrial Security Force on March 10, 1969. The force was given the task of ensuring the protection of essential public sector institutions and their seamless operation.

Throughout the years, the CISF has evolved into a major security organization, providing protection to a wide array of key infrastructure across the country. Today, it acts as a protective shield for India’s public sector undertakings and numerous strategic installations, including airports, seaports, and significant industrial plants.
