New Delhi, April 20 (NationPress) The chairman of the Congress media and publicity department, Pawan Khera, on Sunday urged BJP President J.P. Nadda to issue a show-cause notice to party MP Nishikant Dubey for his outrageous comments regarding the Supreme Court. Khera also pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is providing ‘tacit support’ to the ‘wayward’ lawmaker.

In an interview with IANS, the Congress spokesperson criticized the Prime Minister for failing to control his MPs and questioned how anyone could challenge the highest court without the endorsement of the leadership.

Khera referenced recent pointed remarks made by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar against the judiciary and questioned the capability of the highest court to endure such verbal assaults.

“This is a direct affront to the Constitution. Is there any backing for this? How can they speak so disparagingly about the judiciary?” he asked.

Khera’s denunciation came after Nishikant Dubey suggested that Parliament should be “shut down” if the Supreme Court is to legislate.

“If the Supreme Court has to create laws, then Parliament should be shut down,” the BJP MP remarked in a post on X. His controversial statements regarding the Chief Justice of India also ignited significant backlash.

Following the uproar, the BJP president clarified that Dubey's remarks were personal opinions and did not reflect the party's stance.

“The BJP disassociates itself from the comments made by MPs Nishikant Dubey and Dinesh Sharma regarding the judiciary and the Chief Justice of India. These are their individual opinions; the BJP does not endorse or support them. We categorically reject these statements,” Nadda stated.

Further criticizing the BJP leadership, Khera asserted that Prime Minister Modi holds significant influence over his administration and party, implying that no BJP MP or leader can express such views without his direction.

“If this happened without the Prime Minister’s approval, it indicates he is losing control over the party and the administration,” he quipped.
