Congress Slams BJP-RSS Over Rise in Hate, Warns of Violent Eid
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 17 (NationPress) Senior Congress figure Pawan Khera has strongly condemned the current climate in the nation, asserting that celebrations that once epitomized collective happiness and unity have, over the last decade, morphed into events marked by loud parades and unrest.
He called on the Delhi police and local authorities to take action against the commercialization of faith and to restore peace and order.
In a video shared on his X account, he cited instances of disruptive festivities during Hanuman Jayanti near mosques and unruly conduct in churches during Christmas as evidence of a manufactured climate of intolerance.
Khera accused the BJP of promoting individuals who engage in harassment of those wearing skullcaps and beards, as well as participating in lynching, incendiary slogans, and hate-filled rhetoric, claiming such behavior is rewarded within the party.
He referenced a recent violent incident in Delhi's Uttam Nagar during Holi, where a confrontation over a water balloon led to the tragic death of 26-year-old Tarun.
Khera stated that the RSS (Rashtriya Swyamsevak Sangh) and BJP have escalated communal tensions to dangerous levels, inciting street demonstrations in Delhi where threats of a "bloody Eid" and calls to eradicate Muslims are openly made.
He questioned the Delhi Police's inaction, asking if they are awaiting a repeat of the 2020 riots, mentioning other alarming occurrences such as the disruption of an Iftar event in Varanasi and a brutal attack in Madhubani, Bihar, where a Dalit woman was horrifically forced to consume urine and subsequently killed.
Khera described these offenders as "new Israels" roaming unchecked and pointed out alleged historical connections between the RSS and Israel.
In contrast, he highlighted India's previous principled stance in support of Palestine, which he claims garnered significant international respect and prestige.
He expressed disappointment that the current government and the BJP appear fixated on Israel.
Khera expressed no optimism regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi, indicating that the seeds of hatred sown by the RSS have flourished under Modi's administration, with the BJP's political success growing alongside this culture of division.
He directly appealed to the Delhi Police and administrative bodies to prevent the walls of hatred from rising so high that they obscure the nation's identity.
Setting aside politicians and the government, Khera addressed Hindus nationwide, framing this moment as a profound ethical challenge: whether to allow their faith to be seized and commercialized by such factions or to reclaim and safeguard it.
He urged citizens to stand against these forces and send the "gangs of hate" back to "their barracks in Nagpur," expressing confidence that together they can preserve India's civilization and heritage from decline, as the world observes.
