Congress MP Accuses AAP and BJP of Collaborating Against Farmers' Interests

New Delhi, Jan 2 (NationPress) Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, a Congress MP representing Punjab, launched a strong critique against the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday, branding them as 'anti-farmer' and 'B-teams' undermining the welfare of the farming community.

Randhawa dismissed the letter from Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi as nothing more than an 'election stunt' in light of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

In this correspondence, Chouhan voiced his worries about the plight of farmers in Delhi, charging the AAP government with neglecting their well-being and failing to execute central agricultural initiatives, thus denying farmers vital benefits. He insisted that political disagreements must not hinder the advancement of farmers' interests.

Responding to Chouhan's letter, Randhawa stated to IANS, 'Instead of addressing the Delhi Chief Minister, he ought to have reached out to the Chief Ministers of Punjab and Madhya Pradesh, where farmers are facing serious challenges. Given that Rakesh Tikait is involved in the farmers' protests, Chouhan should have directed his letter to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister.'

Labeling Chouhan's action as an electoral gimmick, Randhawa remarked, 'Corresponding with the Delhi Chief Minister appears to be nothing but an election stunt.'

He also highlighted the worsening health condition of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on a hunger strike since November 26 at Khanauri, the border area between Punjab and Haryana.

Farmers have been demonstrating at Delhi's borders, pushing for long-standing demands, including a legal assurance for Minimum Support Price (MSP), loan forgiveness, and reforms in the agricultural sector.

Randhawa criticized both the Punjab and Delhi governments for their inaction.

'The Chief Minister of Delhi should send a similar letter to the Punjab Chief Minister regarding the dire situation there. Dallewal Sahib has been fasting at the Khanauri border, yet neither Atishi nor Kejriwal have paid him a visit. They should come together with the Punjab CM to urge him to end his fast.'

Accusing both BJP and AAP of colluding against farmers, the Congress MP stated, 'They are both B-teams of one another. They confer in the evenings and create narratives by the morning. Both parties are anti-farmer and dismiss the farming community's demands.'

He called for both parties to step up and address the issues facing farmers.

'The governments in Punjab and Delhi must prioritize fulfilling farmers' demands rather than indulging in political blame games.'
