Sandeep Dikshit to Take Legal Action Against Atishi and Sanjay Singh for Defamation

New Delhi, December 31 (NationPress) - Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit stated on Tuesday that he will initiate defamation lawsuits against Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh following their allegations regarding his receipt of financial assistance from the BJP.

During a press conference on Thursday, Atishi and Singh suggested that the BJP was financing Congress candidates in Delhi.

Atishi asserted, "Sandeep Dikshit and Farhad Suri, the Congress candidate from Jangpura, are receiving BJP support. It’s now clear that Congress has a connection with BJP in the Delhi elections."

In reaction to these allegations, Dikshit informed IANS, "AAP has accused me of colluding with the BJP and receiving hundreds of crores in cash. If any assertions suggest unlawful conduct, then evidence must be provided. In the absence of proof, I will pursue both civil and criminal defamation lawsuits. Criminal defamation carries penalties, while civil defamation seeks restitution."

Dikshit further rejected the claims of having business interests in Delhi, which he mentioned is governed by both the BJP and AAP.

"One AAP spokesperson alleged I have business interests in Delhi. Where are these interests? The city is ruled by AAP and BJP. I have been free from legal troubles for over a decade while those making the claims face legal actions and incarceration. Time has demonstrated who is truthful," he added.

Sandeep Dikshit, the son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, is contesting from the New Delhi Assembly constituency against former CM and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal.

The AAP, part of the opposition INDIA bloc, has also called for Congress to take disciplinary measures against Delhi leader Ajay Maken within 24 hours due to alleged anti-AAP comments. Should they fail to act, AAP threatened to advocate for Congress' expulsion from the alliance.

Sanjay Singh criticized Congress for undermining the bloc's unity, stating, "In the Lok Sabha elections, AAP supported Congress as part of the INDIA bloc's strategy. Yet, Congress seems to be acting against the spirit of the alliance. It appears their candidates and financing are directly sourced from the BJP."
