Hyderabad, Oct 21 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao has accused the Congress government in Telangana of neglecting public health.
Together with former health minister Tatikonda Rajaiah, local corporators, and BRS leaders, KTR visited the Basti Dawakhana in Ibrahim Nagar within the Khairatabad constituency on Monday.
KTR engaged with patients and inquired about the challenges faced at the healthcare facility.
He highlighted that during the tenure of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), the previous BRS government had set up 450 Basti Dawakhanas across Telangana to ensure healthcare was both accessible and affordable for lower-income families.
In addition, Telangana Diagnostic Centres were established to offer free medical tests to the public, and a medical college was sanctioned for each district, all linked to a complete government hospital.
The BRS expressed its worries that the Congress government has been neglecting public health since taking office, resulting in many Basti Dawakhanas falling into disrepair. 'Staff at several Basti Dawakhanas have not received their salaries for four months. These centres are meant to stock 108 essential medicines, yet the government has failed to guarantee a sufficient supply,' KTR stated.
He also noted that the Telangana Diagnostic services have deteriorated under Congress leadership.
'Under KCR's guidance, we inaugurated four TIMS (Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences) hospitals, each with 1,000 beds for the urban poor, and started the 2,000-bed NIMS expansion project. Our administration achieved 90 percent of the work, but this government hasn't even completed the remaining 10 percent,' he commented.
Criticizing the management of sanitation in Hyderabad, KTR asserted, 'Even basic cleanliness in the city has been overlooked. Garbage collection has ceased in numerous areas, the mosquito problem has escalated, and residents are suffering from viral fevers. The Congress government must emerge from its deep slumber and instantly prioritize public health and sanitation.'
He demanded that the state government establish another 450 Basti Dawakhanas if it genuinely cares for the populace and expedite the completion of the pending TIMS hospitals. 'Otherwise, we will organize protests in front of the TIMS hospitals shortly,' he warned.
KTR announced that a comprehensive report on the declining health conditions in Telangana will soon be submitted to the state government, supervised by former Health Minister Rajaiah. He also called on the government to release the overdue salaries of Anganwadi workers and immediately implement the promised pay increase.
KTR criticized Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender and the Congress leadership for their political hypocrisy. 'Danam Nagender was elected as an MLA on the BRS ticket, yet he appears in the list of Congress star campaigners for the Jubilee Hills by-election. Everyone knows which party he was elected from and where he has defected to,' KTR remarked.
He accused the Congress party of lacking moral and ethical clarity regarding the defection of MLAs.
'The Congress party itself is confused - their MLAs can't even clearly state which party they belong to,' he commented.
Taking a jab at the national leadership, KTR stated, 'It is not the AICC - All India Congress Committee anymore, it is the 'All India Corruption Committee'. The corrupt Congress party is now led by Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.
'While the Congress shamelessly claims that no BRS MLA has joined them, the same AICC includes our MLA's name in their star campaigner list. This illustrates the double standards and moral bankruptcy of the Congress leadership,' he concluded.
