New Delhi, Feb 11 (NationPress) Maharashtra Congress leader Husain Dalwai highlighted the critical need for solidarity within the INDIA bloc and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), cautioning that any division could undermine the Opposition's ability to challenge the current government.
His comments followed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's declaration that her party, the Trinamool Congress, will independently participate in the 2026 state Assembly elections, raising alarms about the cohesion of the Opposition alliance.
In an interview with IANS, Dalwai urged all parties in the INDIA bloc and the MVA to unite, particularly in their opposition to the ruling government at both the Centre and state levels.
"Merely criticising the Congress is insufficient. While it is essential to scrutinise Kejriwal's actions in Haryana and beyond, we must also recognise that the Congress has historically understood the necessity of collaborating with regional entities," Dalwai remarked.
Emphasising the evolution of regional party dynamics, Dalwai observed that the Congress failed to adequately address the concerns of backward communities, especially the OBCs, which facilitated the emergence of regional parties.
"Rahul Gandhi's aspiration is to construct a robust India that embodies all societal segments," he stated. "I firmly believe that the Maha Vikas Aghadi and the INDIA Bloc must remain united and combat the current government at the Centre with greater resolve," he added.
Dalwai also commented on the remarks made by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath regarding VIP darshan. He lambasted the preferential treatment given to VIPs at religious events like the Kumbh Mela, where ordinary citizens were deprived of essential facilities, resulting in unfortunate events.
"The conditions were alarming, and individuals suffered due to inadequate provisions," Dalwai remarked.
He urged CM Adityanath to acknowledge the shortcomings, asserting that the common person deserves equal rights and respect as VIPs, especially during sacred gatherings.
Addressing the ongoing controversy over comments made by Ranveer Allahbadia on 'India's Got Latent', Dalwai vehemently condemned the statements. He labelled the remarks as inappropriate and harmful, criticising the inaction from the Mumbai Police.
"Freedom of expression should not be misused to propagate indecency or make distasteful jokes," Dalwai contended.
"There must be repercussions for such conduct. The show and its producers should face accountability and be banned, alongside the YouTube channel that broadcasted the episode," he concluded.
