New Delhi, Jan 27 (NationPress) Senior leader of the Maharashtra Congress, Husain Dalwai, has ignited a debate with his remarks regarding the Maha Kumbh in Uttar Pradesh, eliciting varied responses from both Shiv Sena and the Congress. While Shiv Sena representatives are calling for an apology for his comments, the Congress party stands behind Dalwai, asserting the validity of his observations.

The uproar commenced after Dalwai criticized the preparations at the Maha Kumbh held at the Triveni Sangam, where the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and the legendary Saraswati converge.

He characterized the arrangements as "inadequate and devoid of essential facilities" to accommodate the vast number of pilgrims, cautioning that this situation could lead to a possible "outbreak of diseases."

Maharashtra Minister Uday Samant reacted to Dalwai's statement, asserting, "Concerns are being raised about mismanagement. We take pride in our saints and sages. I urge Dalwai Sahab not to stir up such controversies. The conditions are satisfactory under Yogi sahib's leadership. Countless individuals visiting there report that everything is fine. It is not appropriate to question every program or event."

Shiv Sena leader Manisha Kayande vehemently criticized Dalwai’s comparison of the Maha Kumbh to Hajj, labeling it as "absurd."

"Prayagraj is the meeting point of three sacred rivers. Adherents of Hinduism and spirituality would never utter such nonsense. Husain Dalwai ought to apologize to the Hindu community. If everyone begins to discuss religion in this manner, it will create discord in our nation, and Dalwai will bear the consequences. Equating the Maha Kumbh with Hajj is an ill-conceived notion," she remarked.

Conversely, Congress leader Bhai Jagtap minimized the controversy, pointing out that Dalwai's remarks were personal opinions.

He stated, "This is an individual opinion, and I don't wish to comment further. Footage of women, children, and elderly devotees at the Maha Kumbh illustrates the reality on the ground, clarifying that the preparatory measures are not as promised. Social media reveals the truth."

Jagtap emphasized that the Maha Kumbh is a deeply revered event, and despite infrastructural deficiencies, people attend with unwavering faith. He also referenced the previous Kumbh that took place in Nashik, Maharashtra, under state management, underscoring the need for appropriate organization and facilities for such significant events.
