New Delhi, May 19 (NationPress) Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Sasmit Patra expressed his pride on Monday in being a member of the all-party delegations that will assert India’s robust position against terrorism on an international scale. The team will visit multiple nations to raise awareness about the terrorism originating from Pakistan and to shed light on the recent counter-terrorism operation, "Operation Sindoor".
In an interview with IANS, Sasmit Patra stated, "I am part of the delegation. Tomorrow night, we will embark on our journey to Abu Dhabi, followed by visits to three African nations. The aim is to expose the terrorism propagated by Pakistan and inform other countries about the current situation, especially after Operation Sindoor. The Ministry of External Affairs will conduct a briefing tomorrow, which I anticipate eagerly."
Patra chose to avoid political disputes regarding the delegations, asserting, "I prefer not to comment on statements made by other parties. At this moment, our focus should be on how we can collectively present India’s concerns and position effectively on global platforms."
His comments come in light of reports indicating that the Trinamool Congress has declined to send any of its MPs, including Yusuf Pathan, as part of the Centre’s multi-party delegation aimed at garnering international support against cross-border terrorism, claiming they were not consulted.
When asked about the Trinamool's decision, Patra replied, “I do not wish to comment on the decisions of other political parties. My party, the Biju Janata Dal, led by Naveen Patnaik, has consistently supported the nation. During our recent Political Affairs Committee meeting, chaired by Patnaik, we primarily discussed our armed forces and their commendable efforts in Operation Sindoor. We expressed our gratitude towards them.”
“Operation Sindoor is a significant initiative, and our delegation will convey the message of unity and national interest on the international stage. It will serve as a strong reminder to the world of India’s zero tolerance towards terrorism.”
When questioned about the Union Ministry of Home Affairs’ directive instructing all states and Union Territories to establish Special Task Forces (STFs) to identify and deport illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants within 30 days, Patra refrained from commenting.
“This is an administrative issue, not a political one. I would prefer to limit my remarks to the delegation and our forthcoming mission abroad,” he emphasized.
