This devastating accident took place on Tuesday morning when a total of seven buses and three cars were involved in a collision due to heavy fog. The poor visibility caused by the dense fog resulted in a catastrophic multi-vehicle pile-up, with numerous vehicles colliding in the early hours of the day.

Following the crash, several vehicles ignited, causing panic among passengers who found themselves trapped inside.

Mathura District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh confirmed that eight buses, including one belonging to the state, were completely engulfed in flames, along with two cars.

A total of 70 individuals sustained injuries in this incident and have been transported to various hospitals. Two of the injured have been referred to Agra Medical College for more advanced care. The entire medical staff has completed their evaluations. The mortuary has reported 13 fatalities due to this tragic event,” he told reporters.

Earlier, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shlok Kumar had confirmed that four lives were lost and another 25 individuals sustained injuries in this accident.

He has also pledged financial assistance of Rs 2 lakhs for the families of the victims and Rs 50,000 for those injured, as per the announcements from the Chief Minister's Office.

This tragic collision occurred just a day after a similar incident, where dense fog caused a fatal multi-vehicle crash involving around 20 vehicles on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway early on Monday.

That accident, which happened around 5 a.m., resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including two police officers, and left an estimated 15 to 20 others with serious injuries.

Officials stated that the massive pile-up in that incident was also largely due to extremely low visibility caused by the thick fog shrouding the area, raising significant concerns about road safety during winter fog conditions.

This tragedy not only highlights the need for better infrastructure and safety measures but also raises awareness about the importance of adhering to road safety protocols during adverse weather conditions.
