New Delhi, Oct 18 (NationPress) The Delhi faction of the Bharatiya Janata Party observed its annual Diwali 'Mangal Milan' on Saturday, gathering with journalists and party leaders at the newly launched state office located on Deendayal Upadhyay Marg.
The event was presided over by Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, alongside Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, while Media Head Praveen Shankar Kapoor managed the proceedings.
The celebration saw the presence of Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, BJP co-incharge Alka Gurjar, and national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, who collectively offered Diwali wishes to media representatives and the residents of Delhi.
Notable senior leaders, including MPs Manoj Tiwari, Yogendra Chandolia, Bansuri Swaraj, and former Union Ministers Harsh Vardhan and Vijay Goel, along with numerous MLAs, councillors, NDMC members, and party officials were also in attendance.
In his address, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva remarked that under the present leadership, Delhi is experiencing a Diwali that merges traditional practices with environmental sustainability.
He emphasized that after enduring years of legal prohibitions, the party successfully championed the usage of green firecrackers before the Supreme Court.
“Today, Delhi’s Chief Minister is illuminating over 1.5 lakh diyas at Kartavya Path, marking a historic moment,” he noted.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed gratitude to the citizens of Delhi and the media for their backing, highlighting that after 27 years, the BJP administration in the capital embodies the public's choice.
She encouraged residents to celebrate a “green and proud Diwali” and engage in efforts to cultivate a joyful and environmentally aware Delhi.
Alka Gurjar stated that this Diwali signifies a renewed fervor under a “triple-engine” government committed to swift progress.
National spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi observed that for the first time in many years, Delhi is observing a festival that aligns with cultural pride and faith, guided by a government entrenched in Sanatan values.
The event featured traditional delicacies from Old Delhi, including Bihar’s litti chokha, Rajasthan’s dal baati, Karnataka dosas, and the well-loved Green Park tea, all served in a festive atmosphere to the attending journalists.
