New Delhi, July 11 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, on Friday presented cheques of Rs 5 lakh each to the 24 artisans whose stalls were impacted by a fire incident that occurred at Dilli Haat in April.

On the evening of April 30, 2025, a catastrophic fire devastated Dilli Haat, INA, demolishing 24 artisan stalls entirely. In response to this tragedy, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had declared an ex gratia relief of Rs 5 lakh to every artisan affected.

Honoring her pledge, the Chief Minister distributed cheques totaling Rs 1.20 crore to the affected artisans at the Delhi Secretariat.

These artisans, who showcased handicrafts, jewellery, carpets, woodwork, textiles, and various traditional crafts, received Rs 5 lakh each.

During the event, Chief Minister Gupta stated, “The newly elected government, embraced by the people of Delhi, stands resolutely with the victims. Each affected artisan has received Rs 5 lakh, and their shop rents for six months have been waived.”

She reassured that the path to justice would be expedited and that every legitimate claim would be settled promptly.

Additionally, the 24 artisans whose stalls were lost in the fire have been granted complimentary stalls at Dilli Haat INA for a duration of six months, from July 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.

Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra, present at the cheque distribution ceremony, emphasized the government's commitment to safeguarding the interests of artisans and providing necessary support.

He asserted that the Delhi Government stands by them, and this ex-gratia relief is aimed at helping them regain their stability.
