New Delhi, Feb 21 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and Chairperson of the DDA, V.K. Saxena, is set to inaugurate the Palaash Mahotsav 2026 on Saturday, taking place over two days at the Asita floodplain near ITO.
This festival showcases the DDA’s ongoing commitment to sustainable urban development and the expansion of publicly accessible green spaces throughout the city.
Festival attendees will enjoy a variety of features, including intricate floral designs, seasonal plant exhibitions, and engaging green installations that highlight both ornamental and indigenous species.
In addition to horticultural displays, the event will feature artisan booths, food courts, cultural performances, workshops, and activities that invite participation, making it a delightful experience for families, students, and visitors of all ages.
Joining the inaugural festivities will be Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra and DDA Vice Chairman N. Saravana Kumar.
The Palaash festival symbolizes the shift from winter to spring—a season of renewal, color, and community.
On February 14, the L-G launched the DDA Green Expo 2026 and Palaash Mahotsav 2026 at Baansera by the Yamuna, urging every citizen to take responsibility for the environment.
The L-G remarked, “Three years ago, who would have envisioned this polluted and degraded area hosting a ‘Green Expo’ and becoming a hub for planning a sustainable future for Delhi?”
In a social media message, he stated, “Baansera stands as a remarkable example of restoring degraded land, showcasing resilience and effort. I hope this Expo ponders over and provides practical solutions to Delhi's environmental issues.”
“Let us envision a Delhi where every resident breathes clean air, every neighborhood enjoys shaded trees, every riverbank is nurtured, and every citizen feels responsible for the environment,” he emphasized.
The DDA shared on social media, “The first day of the DDA Green Expo has begun purposefully. From the inaugural ceremony to MoU signings, logo unveiling, keynote addresses, and exhibition walkthroughs, the initial half has set the stage for Delhi’s vision of a climate-resilient and sustainable future.”
In addition to Baansera at Birsa Munda Chowk, the Palaash Festival is also being celebrated at Ashoka Garden in Ashok Vihar, Lala Hardayal Park in Jasola, and Smriti Van in Narela, each featuring a unique theme that honors nature, sustainability, and community life.
The venue boasts thematic floral presentations, curated gardens, landscape installations, and public activity zones, collectively illustrating Delhi’s bond with nature.
A significant focus has been placed on public engagement and environmental consciousness. Through interactive displays and hands-on activities, visitors, particularly children and young adults, are encouraged to connect with themes like biodiversity conservation, water sensitivity, climate responsiveness, and collaborative stewardship of urban greenery.
