New Delhi, Feb 20 (NationPress) The Delhi Lieutenant Governor and DDA Chairperson V.K. Saxena is set to inaugurate the two-day Palaash Mahotsav 2026 at the Asita floodplain near ITO tomorrow, as stated by an official.
This festival embodies the DDA’s ongoing commitment to sustainable urban development and the improvement of accessible public green spaces throughout the city.
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore intricate floral displays, seasonal plant exhibits, and engaging green installations that highlight both ornamental and native plant species.
In addition to the horticultural showcases, the event will feature artisan stalls, food courts, cultural performances, workshops, and interactive activities, ensuring that it is inclusive and enjoyable for families, students, and visitors of all ages.
Joining the inaugural ceremony will be Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra and DDA Vice Chairman N. Saravana Kumar.
The Palaash festival signifies the transition from winter to spring, a season characterized by renewal, color, and community.
Earlier on February 14, the L-G launched the DDA Green Expo 2026 and Palaash Mahotsav 2026 at Baansera on the banks of the Yamuna, urging residents to take responsibility for the environment.
He remarked, “Who would have imagined, just three years ago, that this once-degraded and polluted site would host a ‘Green Expo’ and serve as a platform for envisioning a sustainable future for Delhi.”
In a social media message, he stated, “Baansera stands as a remarkable example of greening and reclaiming degraded land, showcasing resilience and determination. I hope this Expo generates practical solutions for Delhi's environmental issues.”
“Let’s envision a Delhi where every resident inhales clean air, every neighborhood is shaded by trees, every riverbank is nurtured, and every citizen feels accountable for the environment,” he emphasized.
According to the DDA's social media update, “Day 1 of the DDA Green Expo commenced purposefully. From the inaugural ceremony to MoU signings, logo unveiling, keynote speeches, and exhibition tours, the morning set the stage for Delhi’s vision of a climate-resilient, sustainable future.”
Alongside Baansera at Birsa Munda Chowk, the Palaash Festival is also being celebrated at Ashoka Garden in Ashok Vihar, Lala Hardayal Park in Jasola, and Smriti Van in Narela, each curated around unique themes that celebrate nature, sustainability, and community life.
Designed as a city-wide celebration of spring, Palaash Mahotsav coincides with Delhi’s seasonal blooms, pleasant weather, and a festive weekend, encouraging citizens to go outdoors and interact with the city’s green spaces.
The venue hosts thematic floral showcases, curated gardens, landscape installations, and public activity areas, collectively narrating Delhi’s connection with nature.
There has been a strong focus on public involvement and environmental consciousness. Through interactive installations and hands-on activities, visitors, especially children and young adults, are encouraged to engage with themes such as biodiversity conservation, water sensitivity, climate responsiveness, and collective stewardship of urban green spaces.
