Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 19 (NationPress) On Thursday, the Speaker of the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, introduced a specialized AI-driven chatbot named 'Vidhan Sathi' for the Assembly Members, marking a significant milestone as the first legislative body in India to adopt such an innovative technology.
While addressing the assembly members, Gupta stated, “Legislators frequently face the challenge of navigating through intricate laws and policy matters within tight timelines. Vidhan Sathi, designed as a comprehensive legislative research and support tool, aims to equip them with clear, contextual, and reliable information, ensuring that every discussion in this assembly is well-informed, thoughtful, and impactful.”
He revealed that the system will be operational from the upcoming Budget Session, commencing on March 23.
According to Gupta, this initiative represents a pivotal transition towards a data-centric, technology-driven approach to legislative operations.
The chatbot is crafted to provide Members with data-driven insights and assessments of Bills, Acts, and policy matters.
Members can also submit screenshots of Bills or reports to obtain immediate analysis and contextual comprehension, facilitating more informed and effective engagement in legislative debates.
The primary goal is not just to grant access to documents but to aid Members in dissecting complex issues and formulating well-grounded, evidence-based arguments in the Assembly, Gupta emphasized.
'Vidhan Sathi' is optimized for effortless use within the Assembly, accessible through a dedicated QR code placed on each Member’s desk and a direct digital link, thus removing the necessity for downloads or additional procedures.
This facility is exclusively available to the 70 Hon’ble Members of the Assembly, with access strictly limited to them, ensuring a secure and institution-specific legislative support system, as Gupta noted.
Designed specifically for the operations of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Vidhan Sathi utilizes the Rules of Procedure, past debates, committee reports, and legislative records, guaranteeing that the information it provides is pertinent and institutionally relevant.
The platform supports both Hindi and English languages and includes voice-enabled features for user convenience during sessions.
Gupta mentioned that the upcoming session will cover significant legislative business, including discussions on reports from the Committee of Privileges and the Public Accounts Committee, as well as matters related to CAG reports, alongside opportunities for Members to raise issues and engage in brief discussions.
Moreover, the complete rendition of “Vande Mataram” will also be a part of the proceedings, enhancing a sense of collective purpose and institutional spirit, Gupta stated.
