New Delhi, July 24 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the government has issued 93 lakh health cards to residents and affirmed their dedication to establishing more than 1,100 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) by March 2026.
"Delhi has been continuously receiving a blessing, that is Ayushman Bhav. The ongoing addition of healthcare facilities, one after another, is, in my view, playing a crucial role in keeping Delhi healthy," she remarked during the launch of 34 new AAMs.
"Our aim is to make Delhi healthy, provide superior health services to every citizen, and digitalize the entire system," she noted while addressing reporters at the Delhi Secretariat.
She emphasized that 93 lakh ABHA cards, also known as the Ayushman Bharat Health Account digital health ID, enable residents to manage and share their medical records digitally with healthcare providers.
"Over 4 lakh people have been registered under the Ayushman scheme and over 2,000 individuals have utilized its services," she added, mentioning that nearly 3 lakh cards have been issued under the Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana (PMVVY).
"Delhi is rapidly progressing towards becoming a healthy city," she expressed, extending gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for enhancing health infrastructure and care for all.
Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh stated that the introduction of 34 AAMs is the latest initiative by the government to provide healthcare services at residents' doorsteps.
"We have also launched 150 dialysis centres and will expand the service as required," he remarked, adding that the government is set to initiate Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) facilities and fill vacancies in the health sector.
The Health Minister noted, "We are committed to fulfilling the promises made to the people of Delhi by the Prime Minister concerning healthcare, including medication and health infrastructure."
He also criticized the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for degrading the health services in the city, stressing that the Delhi government is actively working to improve conditions.
Minister Singh previously stated that by the end of August, 75 additional AAMs will be established and opened to the public.
A total of 429 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) sites have been identified for this purpose, with 98 receiving a no-objection certificate.
Feasibility assessments are being conducted at over 950 locations across Delhi. The Delhi government is committed to establishing 1,139 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs to ensure comprehensive, affordable, and accessible healthcare services for every citizen.
