New Delhi, January 13 (NationPress) - Delhi's Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh announced on Tuesday that the city government will inaugurate 81 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs on Wednesday, marking a significant advancement in neighbourhood-level primary healthcare services across the metropolis.
This expansion will increase the total number of healthcare centres to 319 in the national capital, he stated.
"With this addition, Delhi is making steady progress towards establishing over 1,100 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, as outlined in the long-term primary healthcare roadmap for the city," he remarked.
Currently, 238 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are operational. The inauguration tomorrow will elevate the total to 319, as highlighted by Minister Singh.
These centres are a crucial component of the Delhi government's mission to deliver free, accessible, and dignified primary healthcare within reach of every household. The initiative is under the guidance of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, aligning with the national vision of 'Healthcare for All', the Minister emphasized.
Each Ayushman Arogya Mandir will provide free consultations with doctors, essential medications, and diagnostic tests. Services will include screenings for diabetes, hypertension, cancer, maternal and child health, immunization support, growth monitoring, lifestyle counseling, mental health services, as well as preventive health programs like yoga and nutrition advice.
"These local facilities will greatly alleviate the burden on major hospitals, facilitating timely care for women, senior citizens, and low-income families without the need for lengthy travel or wait times," he added.
In conjunction with the expansion of Arogya Mandirs, Delhi is also enhancing coverage under both the Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and the Ayushman Bharat-Vaya Vandana Yojana (AB-VVY). As of January 13, 2026, a total of 691,530 health cards (combined PM-JAY + VVY) have been issued in Delhi, including 265,895 VVY cards, according to Minister Singh.
To ensure smooth access to secondary and tertiary care, Delhi now boasts 189 empanelled hospitals, consisting of 138 private hospitals, 41 Delhi government hospitals, and 10 Central government hospitals.
These empanelled facilities offer cashless treatment, allowing financially vulnerable families to receive essential care without incurring costs.
