New Delhi, May 3 (NationPress) – On Saturday, the Delhi government unveiled a 'Mobile Registration Campaign' under the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Yojana, a significant healthcare initiative aimed at senior citizens aged 70 and above in the national capital.
This scheme is part of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), offering free treatment coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh for each beneficiary.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the campaign from the RK Puram Assembly constituency, accompanied by Delhi Cabinet Minister Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa and local MLA Anil Sharma.
The initiative will roll out 70 mobile vans, one for each of the 70 Assembly constituencies, over a span of 70 days to assist elderly citizens with their registration.
During the launch, Chief Minister Gupta stated, "In Delhi, we are initiating a special program under the Vaya Vandana Yojana for all senior citizens aged 70 and above. To assist with their registration, 70 vehicles will be deployed across 70 Assembly constituencies for 70 days, symbolizing 70 days of dedicated government service."
"These vans will be stationed throughout the city, including areas surrounding the national capital, to help elderly residents aged 70 and above complete their registration and necessary formalities promptly," she added.
The Ayushman Vaya Vandana Yojana offers a health insurance plan featuring cashless treatment. The expenses of this initiative will be shared by the Central and Delhi governments.
Each eligible senior citizen will receive Rs 5 lakh coverage under the Ayushman Bharat PMJAY scheme, complemented by an additional Rs 5 lakh coverage from the Delhi government, bringing the total benefit to Rs 10 lakh.
This program is available universally for all residents of Delhi aged 70 and above, irrespective of their social or economic status. However, benefits are limited to native Delhi residents who possess a valid Aadhaar card.
Currently, approximately 100 hospitals in Delhi are registered under the scheme, allowing beneficiaries to access treatment without concerns over costs or cash payments.
Through this mobile van initiative, the Delhi government aims to ensure that no senior citizen faces challenges due to logistical or technological barriers when accessing this comprehensive healthcare support.
