New Delhi, July 10 (NationPress) The second 'Aarambh' library was inaugurated by Delhi's Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday in Malviya Nagar.
As per the L-G's office, this library is tailored for students and aspirants in the national capital, featuring state-of-the-art amenities such as Wi-Fi, air conditioning, power outlets at each seat, personal lockers, a cafeteria, and an appealing outdoor seating area.
This initiative comes in response to a tragic incident in Rajender Nagar last year, where three UPSC aspirants tragically lost their lives due to flooding in an underground library during heavy rains.
The unfortunate event at Rau's IAS Study Circle in July 2023 led authorities to reconsider student study environments in the city. In response, the government has decided to transform underused DDA community centers into libraries. The inaugural 'Aarambh' library was opened in Rajender Nagar in January of this year.
At the inauguration, Saxena stated, “You must have seen that a very tragic incident occurred in Rajender Nagar where three children lost their lives. They were studying in a basement. After that, it was decided that we would convert DDA's underutilized community centers into libraries. The first 'Aarambh' library was inaugurated in Rajender Nagar, and today, many children are studying there and are very satisfied.”
Regarding the newly opened library, Saxena remarked, “We are inaugurating the second Aarambh library, and soon two more libraries will be launched. The aim is to provide a pleasant atmosphere for students coming from various parts of the nation to study in the city. Delhi is the capital of the nation, and we do not want students to be exploited by paying excessive fees for libraries.”
He also noted the availability of a canteen on-site, saying, “Several students have already been enrolled here, and many more will follow in the coming days. There is also a canteen here, where students can get tea, snacks, and food. I believe that this provides students with a refreshing atmosphere and enhanced study facilities.”
Saxena further revealed plans for a total of six such libraries across the city, with two already operational and more to come shortly.
He praised the development initiatives, commending CM Gupta and stating that a “wave of development” has occurred in the capital under the current BJP government.
In a conversation with reporters, CM Gupta expressed her pride and satisfaction regarding the new project, stating, “This is a remarkable beginning. I believe a new chapter has been added to Delhi's history. Every day, new policies, new initiatives, and a better vision are being delivered to the people of Delhi. Our Lieutenant Governor is doing commendable work.”
Gupta also congratulated all parties involved in the library project, affirming, “Through the DDA, Delhi is receiving beautiful gifts regularly. I congratulate everyone on the inauguration of this library.”
According to the L-G's office, the Aarambh libraries are designed to offer every student easy access to safe, secure, and quality study environments, fostering a nurturing atmosphere for educational excellence and career advancement.
