During the foundation-laying ceremony, L-G Saxena remarked, "The establishment of this new Clock Tower by NDMC will mark a significant development in the urban renewal of our National Capital." He noted that the clock tower's strategic placement at the Mandir Marg and Shankar Road junction makes it a focal point for visitors and daily commuters alike.
Saxena further highlighted the historical significance of clock towers in urban spaces, stating, "Traditionally, clock towers were erected in prominent city locations, serving not just as timekeeping devices but as important landmarks." He expressed hope that this clock tower will evolve into a notable landmark in Delhi, enhancing the visual landscape of Lutyens’ Delhi and contributing a unique feature to its skyline.
Additionally, the L-G mentioned that another clock tower is being built at Sadbhavana Park on Ring Road behind Red Fort, a project managed by the DDA, which is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
