New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reiterated on Thursday that the government has implemented a zero-tolerance stance against the black marketing and hoarding of cooking gas, vowing to take strong measures against violators while ensuring that there is no LPG supply shortage in the capital.

Her remarks coincided with a significant enforcement operation in Alipur, where the Delhi government uncovered illegal refilling activities and began rigorous legal proceedings against those implicated, as stated by an official.

This operation was initiated following insights gained from a sting operation broadcast on a national news channel the prior day, according to an official announcement.

Chief Minister Gupta emphasized the government's unwavering position against such breaches, highlighting that the safety of citizens and the reliability of essential supply systems are non-negotiable.

She warned that any attempts to exploit consumers or manipulate LPG distribution will result in the strictest penalties.

To bolster enforcement, the government has sanctioned the establishment of 13 district-level teams, each led by the SDM (HQ), to ensure prompt action against violations.

These teams will work in close collaboration with relevant departments and execute targeted operations based on intelligence and public complaints.

Following the sting operation, a joint enforcement team made up of officials from the Food and Supplies Department and representatives from Oil Marketing Companies conducted a raid at the identified locations in Alipur.

During this inspection, authorities discovered illegal refilling of LPG cylinders, a practice that poses serious safety hazards and disrupts regulated supply chains.

Officials also seized three consumer passbooks that were allegedly being misused to obtain subsidized cylinders for unauthorized refilling and resale in smaller units.

All incriminating evidence found at the site has been confiscated, and a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the suspects.

The government has also encouraged citizens to play an active role in combating illegal activities by reporting any suspicious behavior. Complaints can be made via helpline numbers 011-23379836 and 8383824659 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

CM Gupta assured that all verified complaints will be addressed promptly, and the identities of informants will remain strictly confidential.

She pointed out that illegal refilling not only undermines fair distribution but also creates dangerous situations due to unsafe handling and storage of cylinders.

The government has instructed enforcement agencies to ramp up inspections throughout the supply chain, including LPG storage facilities, distribution agencies, transport networks, and retail outlets. Surprise checks will be routinely conducted to prevent malpractices, she concluded.
