Amaravati, April 7 (NationPress) A Special Deputy Collector tragically lost her life while four others sustained injuries in a road mishap in Andhra Pradesh’s Annamayya district on Monday, according to police reports.

The incident happened when two vehicles collided head-on near Yerraguntla in Sambepalle mandal.

Deputy Collector Sugal Rama, aged 50, died instantly at the scene while the injured were promptly transported to a medical facility in Rayachoti.

Rama served as the Coordinator of the Grievances Cell in Annamayya district. She was en route from Pileru to Rayachoti to address a public grievances program when the accident occurred.

The District Collector, Sridhar Chamakuri, visited the injured individuals, conversing with doctors and instructing officials to ensure they receive the highest quality care.

Authorities have initiated a formal investigation into the accident.

The Deputy Collector originated from Kalyanadurgam in Anantapur district.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his sorrow over the loss of the Deputy Collector in this tragic incident, labeling it unfortunate.

He remarked that Rama lost her life while fulfilling her duties by heading to Rayachoti. He extended his heartfelt condolences to her family and directed officials to guarantee that the injured receive outstanding medical attention.

Minister for Education and Information Technology Nara Lokesh also expressed his condolences regarding the Deputy Collector’s tragic passing, describing it as deeply saddening.

“I am profoundly shocked by this news. May her soul find peace. I extend my sincere tributes. I urge the relevant authorities to provide the best medical care for the injured in this incident. I wish for their swift recovery and safe return,” Lokesh stated.
