Dindori (Madhya Pradesh), Nov 5 (NationPress) Tragedy struck on Wednesday as four individuals, including a young girl, met their demise in a road accident along the Jabalpur–Amarkant highway near Kohni village, according to an official report.

The victims were riding a motorcycle when it collided with a heavy trailer under circumstances that remain to be clarified. The collision was so catastrophic that all four riders, believed to belong to the same family, suffered fatal injuries. Police quickly arrived at the location and attempted to assist a teenager -- a girl aged approximately 13-14 -- who was found in dire condition.

Despite their best efforts to stabilize her, she tragically succumbed to her injuries while being transported to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.

The man operating the motorcycle died on the spot, and two adult women also perished in the collision.

In a statement to IANS, Anurag Jamdar, the investigating officer and head of the Shahpura police station, noted that the victims' identities have yet to be verified, as there were no eyewitnesses or family members available to provide information.

Initial investigations indicate that the victims may have come from either Chourai in Chhindwara district or Dhanauli village.

Authorities have reached out to the sarpanch of Dhanauli, who is on his way to the accident scene to aid in identifying the victims.

Jamdar speculated that the driver of the trailer might have suddenly applied the brakes, resulting in the crash. However, the driver fled immediately after the incident, and efforts are currently underway to locate him.

"We are exploring the potential for mechanical failure or reckless driving, but the absence of the driver complicates our investigation," he mentioned.

This incident has reignited significant concerns regarding highway safety, especially on routes commonly used by heavy vehicles and motorcycles.

Wednesday’s devastating event adds to a concerning tally of fatal accidents along the Jabalpur-Amarkant corridor, leading to calls for enhanced monitoring and better infrastructure. Police are persistently working to identify the victims and track down the driver of the fleeing trailer.
