New Delhi, March 5 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on Thursday that both India and Finland uphold the principles of rule of law, dialogue, and diplomacy, reaffirming their commitment to support all initiatives aimed at resolving the ongoing disputes in West Asia and Ukraine.
During a joint press conference with Finland's President Alexander Stubb after discussions at Hyderabad House in Delhi, PM Modi stated that both nations concur on the pressing need to reform global institutions to effectively tackle international challenges.
"India and Finland are aligned in our belief that military confrontations cannot settle disputes. Whether the issues are in Ukraine or West Asia, we will persist in our support for all endeavors aimed at quickly achieving peace. We also agree that reforming global institutions is not just necessary but urgent to combat increasing global challenges, including our mutual commitment to eliminate terrorism in all forms," he remarked.
PM Modi acknowledged President Stubb's accomplishment of completing the Ironman Triathlon, expressing confidence that with such a dynamic leader, India and Finland will embark on a new triathlon focused on innovation, digitalization, and sustainability.
He highlighted the strengthening ties between India and Europe, which are contributing to greater global stability, economic growth, and shared prosperity. Additionally, he mentioned the recently signed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the European Union (EU).
"We find ourselves in a world marked by instability and uncertainty. Conflicts persist from Ukraine to West Asia. In this context, India and Europe, as two significant diplomatic forces globally, are poised to enter a golden era in their relations. Our enhanced collaboration is vital for fostering global stability, growth, and shared prosperity. The landmark India-EU Free Trade Agreement signed at the beginning of 2026 will further bolster trade, investment, and technological cooperation between India and Finland.
PM Modi also declared the signing of a comprehensive migration and mobility pact to link the innovation ecosystems of both nations. He mentioned that both countries have agreed to enhance cooperation in teacher training, school partnerships, and the future of education.
"Finland is increasingly becoming a preferred choice for Indian students and professionals. Today, we formalized a comprehensive migration and mobility agreement to bridge the innovation ecosystems of our countries. This will also help us strengthen joint research and startup collaborations," PM Modi stated.
"Finland exemplifies excellence in education. We have also committed to expanding research collaboration in teacher training, school partnerships, and the future of education. This signifies our intention to deepen cooperation across all levels of human development, from education to industry. Finland remains a critical partner for India in the Nordic region, and we are broadening our collaboration in Arctic and polar research," he concluded.
