Chandigarh, Feb 4 (NationPress) In a significant victory against trans-border narcotics trafficking networks, the Punjab Police, in collaboration with the Border Security Force (BSF), successfully seized 3.925 kg of heroin from agricultural areas near the Border Outpost (BOP) in Kaalian, Tarn Taran, as reported by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Wednesday.

In addition to the heroin, authorities have also confiscated a DJI Matrice drone that was utilized by smugglers based in Pakistan to transport the drug across the international boundary, highlighting the use of advanced technology in cross-border smuggling efforts.

The DGP stated that investigations are ongoing to identify the cross-border operatives, trace the supply chains, and dismantle the entire illicit network.

Providing operational insights, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Surendra Lamba mentioned that the Punjab government's 'Baaz Akh' anti-drone system detected suspicious drone activity in the Kaalian region.

In a swift response, police teams alerted the BSF and jointly executed a combing operation, resulting in the neutralization of the drone carrying the heroin, which was subsequently retrieved from the agricultural fields, he explained.

The SSP noted that further inquiries are being conducted to ascertain the intended recipient of the heroin shipment.

A case has been registered under Section 21-C of the NDPS Act and Sections 25, 26, and 29 of the 'Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam' in Valtoha, Tarn Taran.

The police are actively conducting 'Gangstran Te Vaar', a campaign against gangsters and organized crime.

DGP Yadav has urged the public, particularly the youth, to distance themselves from criminal activities and anti-social elements while channeling their energy into positive endeavors.

He emphasized that there is no tolerance for crime in Punjab and encouraged citizens to utilize the Anti-Gangster Helpline number 93946-93946 to confidentially report any criminal or gangster activities, assuring that informant identities will remain confidential.
