Ex-Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Hospitalized in AIIMS, Delhi; Health Status Alarming

New Delhi, Dec 26 (NationPress) The former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Thursday after a significant decline in his health, according to reports. His condition is reportedly critical.
The 92-year-old leader was brought to the emergency department of the facility around 8 p.m., as per sources.
The specific reasons for his hospitalization are not immediately clear.
As stated by his office, Singh is experiencing extreme breathlessness and has been relocated to the ICU.
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited the prestigious hospital to assess Singh's health.
Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan and senior Congress figure Ashok Gehlot expressed his concerns on X, stating, "I am deeply worried about the health of Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh ji. I wish him a swift recovery and good health."
Earlier in April this year, Singh retired from the Rajya Sabha, receiving accolades from Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for his extensive career in parliament.
Singh gained national prominence as the Finance Minister during the PV Narasimha Rao administration from 1991 to 1996, implementing transformative reforms that reshaped the economy.
He served as Prime Minister of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) for two terms, from 2004 to 2014, and remained a member of the Rajya Sabha until earlier this year.
Throughout his political journey, Singh has been part of the Rajya Sabha since 1991 and held the position of Leader of the Opposition from 1998 to 2004.
He took the oath of office as Prime Minister on May 22, following the 2004 general elections, and was sworn in for a second term on May 22, 2009.
Representing Assam for five terms in the Upper House, he transitioned to Rajasthan in 2019.
His last significant speech in Parliament addressed the issue of demonetization, which he characterized as an "organised loot and legalised plunder".
Born on September 26, 1932, in Punjab, Singh earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from Panjab University in 1952 and 1954, respectively.
He completed his Economic Tripos at Cambridge University in 1957 and later received a D.Phil in Economics from Oxford University in 1962.
