Fadnavis Urges State Think Tank to Propose Strategies for Priority Sector Development

Mumbai, Dec 28 (NationPress) In a strategic move to uphold Maharashtra's position as a leading state in the nation, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis convened a meeting on Saturday with the Maharashtra Institution for Transformation (MITRA), the state's think tank, urging it to provide recommendations to the government for the advancement of key sectors such as finance, mining, group farming, solar energy projects, biofuels, and employment opportunities abroad.
During the meeting, which Fadnavis chaired, he emphasized that MITRA should develop a comprehensive roadmap aimed at reducing fiscal deficits, boosting capital investments, aligning various schemes, expediting the completion of incomplete water conservation projects, and formulating both a data policy and a mining policy for the holistic advancement of the state.
Fadnavis highlighted the initiative to promote the collective development of farmers through group farming, which currently comprises around 400 operational groups within the state.
He stated, "Most of these groups have shown promising results. Farmers involved in group farming will gain both economic and social empowerment through the synergistic benefits of schemes from departments such as agriculture, water conservation, horticulture, and marketing. In this context, a model for the convergence of various schemes should be established," he added.
The chief minister also conducted an in-depth review of the solar energy project in the Jayakwadi project, biogas production from agricultural residues, and the Gorewada International Zoo in Nagpur.
Furthermore, Fadnavis instructed the Maharashtra Airport Development Company to expedite the ongoing airport projects to enhance connectivity across the state. This acceleration is crucial given the extensive infrastructure development underway. He assured that both the central and state governments would provide significant support for these initiatives.
Fadnavis, while presiding over the meeting with the Maharashtra Airport Development Company, noted the immense potential for growth in air traffic within the state.
To this end, he advocated for a focus on airport development using state funds, including expansion, provision of night landing facilities, extending the runway length, and enhancing passenger amenities at airports, alongside the Central government’s UDAN scheme.
He also urged the Maharashtra Airport Development Company to take immediate action to alleviate congestion at major city airports. A detailed review was conducted concerning the progress of airport developments at locations including Ratnagiri, Shirdi, Amravati (Belora), Purandar, Karad, Chandrapur (Morwa), Solapur, Dhule, Phaltan, Akola, and Gadchiroli.
Additionally, he reviewed the impending agreement concerning the allocation of 786.56 hectares to the GMR Nagpur International Airport, which is part of the MIHAN area. He instructed that the agreement be finalized expeditiously.
