Patna, May 1 (NationPress) Tragically, a road accident in Bihar's Vaishali resulted in the death of one individual and left three others injured on Thursday.
According to authorities, the incident transpired near Hathsarganj on the Hajipur-Lalganj main road when an out-of-control pickup truck struck individuals who were standing by the roadside.
The deceased has been identified as Roshan Kumar (24), who was declared dead at the scene. The injured—Vikas Thakur, Mohammad Anjay, and Sunny Kumar—sustained serious injuries and were promptly transported to Hajipur Sadar Hospital by local residents.
Witness Vishnu Prasad recounted, “A group of people was gathered along the roadside when a speeding pickup truck suddenly collided with them. One individual tragically lost his life immediately, while three others were hurt.”
In the aftermath, an enraged crowd apprehended the pickup driver, Anil Kumar, and set his vehicle ablaze, resulting in its total destruction. The driver was also physically assaulted.
Local residents expressed their outrage by blocking the Hajipur-Lalganj main road, insisting on the implementation of safety measures. Police arrived at the scene in response to the disturbance and took the driver into custody. Fire brigade personnel were dispatched and successfully extinguished the flames after significant effort.
Hajipur Sadar SDO Rambabu Baitha assured that the community's request for a road barrier would be addressed promptly.
“We will also submit a claim for compensation under the vehicle accident relief provisions and offer family support as necessary,” he stated.
He also informed that an FIR has been filed for rash and negligent driving, and the accused will be presented in the district court for judicial proceedings.
