FIR Registered Against Suspect for Attempted Assault on Karnataka BJP MLC C.T. Ravi

Bengaluru, Dec 23 (NationPress) The police in Karnataka have officially filed an FIR against the individual who attempted to assault BJP MLC C.T. Ravi in the corridors of the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha located in Belagavi, according to police statements released on Monday.
This incident occurred on December 19 as the accused attempted to attack C.T. Ravi following an alleged controversial comment made about State Minister for Women and Child Welfare Lakshmi Hebbalkar. The attack took place within the premises of the Belagavi Suvarna Vidhana Soudha.
A complaint was filed by C.T. Ravi at the Hirebagewadi police station in Belagavi, although it was initially classified as a miscellaneous case.
Complaints regarding the incident were also filed by BJP MLC D.S. Arun and Prof. S.V. Sankanura with Chairman of the Legislative Council Basavaraj Horatti, alleging that C.T. Ravi was targeted by supporters of Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar.
BJP MLC Kishore Kumar Puttur, who witnessed the attack, has submitted a separate complaint to Chairman Horatti concerning the matter.
Ravi has consistently claimed that his complaints about the attack have not been adequately addressed by the police.
Sources have revealed that the case has been filed under several sections of the law including BNS 189(2) (unlawful assembly), 191(2) (rioting), 190 (unlawful assembly with a common objective), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 352 (intentional insult), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) against the accused.
In an interview with IANS, BJP MLC Kishore Kumar Puttur mentioned that he has submitted a complaint to the Council Chairman but is awaiting updates on its status.
“The individuals who were apprehended by the police earlier in the day were seen conversing with media outlets later that evening. If the BJP were in power, such incidents would not occur. I am skeptical about any police action under the Congress government, as it may favor the ruling party,” MLC Puttur remarked.
“The attackers explicitly threatened my life and warned me of serious consequences,” he added.
Last Thursday, during a tense debate session in the Legislative Council, C.T. Ravi allegedly labeled Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi as a 'drug addict'.
In response to these remarks, Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar criticized Ravi, referring to him as a 'murderer'. In retaliation, the BJP leader reportedly used disparaging language towards the female Minister.
“Regarding the allegations, the Speaker has issued a ruling. I’ve already communicated this to the media and will refrain from further elaboration... Our words are known to our conscience and the Almighty,” Ravi stated.
