Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 9 (NationPress) Galgotias University is still enduring significant criticism on social media as of Thursday, following backlash over its full-page ads in prominent Indian newspapers that assert global recognition.
A number of users on X have taken to mocking the university's marketing efforts, questioning the truth behind its claims and ridiculing its branding strategies.
One user posted an image from a university event, sarcastically inquiring, "Is it manufactured in China, or is it a product of Galgotias University? Just curious."
In another post, an author and columnist lambasted the university's advertising, stating, "Galgotias, my friend! Publishing such ads after what transpired at the AI summit demands a remarkable level of audacity. Kudos to the shamelessness!"
Several individuals also warned potential students to be wary of being swayed by these promotional materials.
One post cautioned, "Dear students, steer clear of these ads. They are deceptive and merely for show, and they won't benefit your career - Galgotias University."
Additionally, another user shared a doctored image involving Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir, captioning it "Mediator from Galgotias University," which further fueled online mockery.
This latest uproar comes in the wake of a controversy at the AI summit at Bharat Mandapam, where the university was reportedly asked to dismantle its stall after it was alleged that a robotic dog showcased as an in-house innovation was, in fact, a commercially available item.
Observers identified the robot, labeled as "Orion," as the Unitree Go2 produced by Unitree Robotics.
During an interview with DD News at the summit, Professor Neha Singh described the robot as a result of the university's AI investments, asserting it was developed on-site and capable of surveillance and monitoring tasks.
The university has circulated full-page ads in newspapers proclaiming that it is "ranked internationally" and "dedicated to making India proud."
As of now, the institution has not provided any official response to the ongoing wave of ridicule.
