Hyderabad, April 1 (NationPress) A 25-year-old German woman was reportedly assaulted by a cab driver on the outskirts of Hyderabad while en route to the airport, according to police reports.
The incident took place on Monday night in Mamidipally, falling under the jurisdiction of the Pahadishareef Police Station of Rachakonda Police Commissionerate.
The victim contacted the police via Dial 100. Authorities have apprehended a suspect and are currently conducting an investigation.
As per police statements, the German woman was in Hyderabad visiting a friend. They, along with a few others, had taken a cab to explore the city during the day. After dropping off other passengers, the cab driver drove towards the airport to drop her off. However, he stopped at a secluded area in Mamidipally, where he allegedly assaulted her before fleeing the scene.
Following her call to the police, special teams were organized to locate the suspect. A case of assault was registered under section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Pahadai Shareef Police Station.
