Kolkata, Aug 9 (NationPress) Dilip Ghosh, the former national vice-president of the BJP and ex-president of West Bengal's state unit, asserted on Saturday that the concerns raised by the parents of the R.G. Kar Medical College victim of rape and murder regarding the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are indeed "quite justified."
During a media interaction on the tragic incident's first anniversary, Ghosh noted that if the family of the victim has not received justice within a year, their frustrations towards the investigative body are understandable.
Ghosh, who previously served as a Lok Sabha member, went as far as to call for a renewed investigation that should be monitored by the court and conducted by a new team of investigators.
"When justice is delayed, grievances against the investigation agency inevitably arise. I believe that several crucial elements were overlooked during the inquiry. Therefore, I advocate for a complete re-examination of the case with a fresh team, excluding those who were part of the initial investigation," Ghosh stated.
On Friday, the victim’s parents returned to Kolkata from New Delhi after meeting the CBI director. Upon their return, they expressed their frustrations regarding the investigation's nature and progress to the media.
“We conveyed to the CBI director that his agency has utterly failed in addressing the tragedy involving our daughter. Initially, we had confidence in the CBI, but after one year, that trust has completely dissipated,” the victim’s mother remarked on Friday.
Ghosh’s support for the victim's family has ignited political discussions in West Bengal, raising concerns about both the case's handling and the investigation's credibility.
