New Delhi, May 11 (NationPress) Union Minister Giriraj Singh emphatically declared that the nation is united in its support for the Indian Army and the government’s approach regarding the India-Pakistan border situation, warning that anyone expressing anti-national sentiments will not be accepted by the country.
His statements came in light of recent political reactions following the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, which came after a period of escalating cross-border tensions.
In his praise for the Indian Army, Singh remarked, “The entire nation takes pride in the courage displayed by the Indian Army, which has showcased its valor. The public has complete trust in our leadership. Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Army have made our nation proud. We say with honor, we are Indians.”
Interestingly, the ceasefire decision has received bipartisan backing, with various senior opposition figures supporting the initiative and commending the government’s response.
Former Union Minister and senior Congress politician P. Chidambaram labeled the decision as “wise” and praised Prime Minister Modi for avoiding further escalation. Chidambaram’s endorsement drew significant attention and sparked reactions across the political landscape.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor echoed Chidambaram’s viewpoint, asserting that the intended message from India had already been communicated. “Extending the conflict was never our goal,” Tharoor noted, indicating that the ceasefire represents a responsible move towards de-escalation.
Congress leader Manish Tewari also pointed out the rare political consensus, stating, “The entire opposition has embraced and commended the efforts of the Indian Army. The entire nation, including the ruling party, the opposition, and the general populace, has united. This illustrates India's inherent strength and solidarity.”
Mrityunjay Tiwari from the RJD welcomed the ceasefire but warned against becoming complacent. “India is a peace-loving nation, and any initiatives towards peace are welcomed. However, vigilance against ceasefire violations is crucial. India does not initiate wars but will respond if provoked. We await further clarity regarding the events leading to this ceasefire,” he stated.
