Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, February 24 (NationPress) - Tensions flared at Aramghar crossroads in Hyderabad on Tuesday night when a faction of Gorakshaks (cow protectors) halted a container suspected of carrying cows.
The confrontation took place near pillar number 311 on the PVNR Expressway, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Rajendranagar Police Station.
The Gorakshaks compelled the driver to stop, leading to a heated exchange. A large crowd soon gathered, chanting slogans and escalating the situation.
This incident caused significant traffic congestion at the busy intersection and on the route from Mehdipatnam to Aramghar, with the traffic on the PVNR Expressway also coming to a standstill.
The police arrived swiftly to disperse the crowd and restore order on the roads.
The Gorakshaks claimed that the container was being used for the illegal transport of cows intended for slaughter. Following their complaint, law enforcement registered a case and launched an investigation.
In a related incident, Hyderabad police have filed charges against Nithin Nandhkar, the City President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), for allegedly using offensive language and organizing a public event without the necessary permissions.
A case against Nandhkar has been lodged at Afzalgunj Police Station, stemming from an event during the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti celebrations on February 19.
During his speech, Nandhkar criticized newly elected Mumbra corporator and AIMIM leader Sahar Yunus Shaikh, who previously made a controversial statement about 'painting Mumbra green.'
While expressing his respect for women in the country, Nandhkar condemned her remarks, which led to a derogatory comment from him.
The AIMIM corporator's statement regarding 'painting Mumbra green' during her victory speech had provoked backlash from various groups.
Subsequently, she apologized for her comment.
