Hyderabad, Jan 24 (NationPress) Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy experienced a close call when vehicles in his convoy collided in Suryapet district on Friday. The incident took place near Garidepalli as the minister was heading to participate in the Urs celebrations at Janpahad.

During the incident, eight cars in the minister's convoy were damaged after his vehicle abruptly halted.

The minister, wishing to greet party workers waiting by the roadside, instructed the driver to stop.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, although the eight cars sustained minor damages. The minister continued his journey afterward.

In a separate incident, a truck overturned in the Lakdi Ka Pul area of Hyderabad on the same day, causing significant traffic congestion in the city's center.

A serious accident was avoided as the truck overturned when very few vehicles were on the road.

However, this incident resulted in a major traffic jam on routes leading to Nampally and the Secretariat, prompting police to act swiftly to manage the situation.

A crane was dispatched to clear the overturned truck. Additionally, Hyderabad faced two fire incidents on Friday.

In one case, seven brand new cars were destroyed by a large fire that erupted at a Mahindra car showroom in the Kondapur area.

Firefighters quickly responded and extinguished the flames. Thankfully, there were no injuries, and officials suspect a short circuit was the cause.

In another incident, three roadside shops were engulfed in flames in the Nizampet area due to a gas cylinder explosion at a food stall, spreading to two nearby shops. Fire engines were deployed to control the fire.

Authorities reported no casualties and have launched an investigation into the incidents.
