A police communiqué indicated that around 9:20 p.m., a sound resembling a blast was heard from the rear side of the Police Post Old Town, raising alarms among local residents.
"Fortunately, no injuries or damage were recorded. Police teams quickly secured the area in collaboration with other agencies. During their search, approximately at 10:40 p.m., a grenade pin was discovered outside the boundary wall of the Police Post, which is presumed to be linked to the grenade, leading authorities to conclude that this was an attempted grenade attack. The exact site of the impact crater is still being sought," the police statement elaborated.
"An extensive investigation has been launched, and search operations in the vicinity are currently in progress.
"The Baramulla Police is dedicated to safeguarding public safety and encourages the community to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station," officials stated.
