Gandhinagar, April 13 (NationPress) Gujarat Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi, fiercely criticized Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday, accusing them of disseminating misleading information regarding the Gujarat Class X board examination results, labeling both leaders as “fake” and “fraudulent”.
The controversy ignited after the two opposition leaders lambasted the Gujarat government on the social media platform ‘X’, referencing media reports that purportedly indicated alarmingly low pass rates in the state's government schools.
However, social media users swiftly pointed out that the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has yet to announce the Class X results for the ongoing academic year, with results anticipated in May.
In response to the opposition leaders’ assertions, Gujarat Minister Harsh Sanghavi stated on X: “I have never encountered such fake and fraudulent leaders. The Gujarat Board results haven’t even been released yet, but Mr. Akhilesh Yadav and his associate, Arvind Kejriwal, are propagating false results on social media. This is a calculated effort to mislead the public and skew perceptions. These leaders have no right to involve innocent children in their dirty politics.”
Meanwhile, Gujarat Minister of State for Education, Praful Pansheriya, supported Sanghavi's sentiments and called for consequences against Akhilesh Yadav and Arvind Kejriwal.
“The public - particularly students, parents, and teachers - must remain alert against such fake news and depend solely on official announcements,” Pansheriya remarked.
He further emphasized that the citizens of Gujarat and across India have persistently rejected such deception, leading to these kinds of leaders being ousted by informed voters.
He continued, “There is a vile attempt by anti-social and unsuccessful leaders to mislead students by publishing fake board results on social media. Do not involve children in your political maneuvers. Do not gamble with their future.”
Previously, Akhilesh Yadav’s post included what seemed to be a 2023 news headline. “Gujarat board results: Zero students passed Class 10 in 157 schools. The Gujarat model has failed… Not a single student passed the 10th board exam in 157 schools in Gujarat. We will eliminate BJP and safeguard the future,” he wrote.
Arvind Kejriwal amplified the allegation, stating: “This is the Gujarat model. This is the BJP model, which they seek to implement nationwide. This is the double-engine model. They intend to keep the country uneducated. Name one state where the BJP governs and hasn’t destroyed education. Under this model, they are now attempting to ruin the education system in Delhi.”
In contrast, Gujarat Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi defended Yadav and Kejriwal, asserting that their comments highlighted a deeper, persistent issue within Gujarat’s education system under BJP governance.
“In the BJP’s 30-year rule, Gujarat’s education sector has continuously deteriorated,” Doshi argued.
“The student-teacher ratio is alarming. Government schools are experiencing a decline in both educators and classrooms. The education department has become a hub of corruption,” he added.
The Congress leader remarked that a school without a teacher and a village without a school aptly illustrates the current education framework under the Gujarat BJP government.
