Gandhinagar, Dec 5 (NationPress) The intensive revision of the electoral roll in Gujarat is advancing rapidly, with enumeration activities scheduled to continue until December 11, as confirmed by officials on Friday.
Under the guidance of the Election Commission of India and led by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Harit Shukla, the CEO's office, district election officers, and field staff are collaborating effectively to manage this extensive state-wide initiative.
Officials reported that enumeration forms have been successfully distributed to over five crore registered voters included in the 2025 electoral roll.
All 33 districts of Gujarat have achieved complete form distribution, with the remaining districts nearing finalization.
The digitization of the returned forms is also progressing quickly.
As of now, twenty-one Assembly constituencies, including Dhanera, Tharad (Banaskantha), Limkheda, Dahod (Scheduled Tribe), Garbada, and Devgadh Baria (Dahod), Bayad (Aravalli), Idar, Prantij (Sabarkantha), Dhoraji, Jasdan, Gondal (Rajkot), Keshod, Mangrol (Junagadh), Una, Kodinar (Gir Somnath), Mahemdavad (Kheda), Khambhat (Anand), Jalalpore (Navsari), Kalol (Panchmahal), and Dang, have achieved 100% digitization.
The Dang district is leading with a digitization rate of 94.46%, followed by Gir Somnath at 91.71% and Morbi at 91.32%.
The performance of the top ten districts showcases consistent high achievement across the state.
The digitization initiative has demonstrated strong results throughout Gujarat, with all top ten districts exceeding 90% completion.
Close contenders include Banaskantha (91.19%), Mahisagar (91.17%), Aravalli (91.12%), and Sabarkantha (91.08%).
Chhota Udepur (91.05%), Patan (90.82%), and Botad (90.26%) follow closely, indicating steady progress across various regions.
During the enumeration process, officials discovered over 17.30 lakh deceased voters still listed on the electoral rolls.
Additionally, seven lakh voters were untraceable at their registered addresses, 32.52 lakh voters were identified as having permanently migrated, and 3.36 lakh entries were found to be duplicates.
The CEO's office has praised the dedicated efforts of Gujarat's Booth Level Officers (BLOs), who play a crucial role in the door-to-door verification process.
BLOs have been encouraged to reach out to their local election office for assistance as the state approaches the completion of this extensive and vital democratic exercise.
The special intensive revision of the electoral roll is essential for maintaining a clean, accurate, and transparent voting process in Gujarat.
By verifying each voter through door-to-door surveys, digitizing returned forms, and eliminating duplicates, shifted, or deceased entries, the SIR enhances the integrity of the electoral roll—the foundation of free and fair elections.
This effort helps prevent impersonation, minimizes errors, and ensures that every eligible citizen is accurately registered at their current address.
Moreover, the SIR initiative bolsters public trust in the democratic system by ensuring elections are conducted using an updated and verified voter list.
