Gurugram, April 25 (NationPress) In a bid to enhance medical services for patients in Gurugram, a helipad will be constructed at the upcoming city bus terminal in Sector-103, inspired by models from Dubai and Singapore, according to officials.

The bus terminal is strategically located near the under-construction Shri Sheetla Mata Devi Medical College in Sector-102, Gurugram.

This initiative, approved by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), will proceed in phases. The initial phase focuses on the city bus terminal, while the subsequent phase will include the helipad and a skywalk.

The helipad is designed to facilitate the swift airlifting of patients, allowing for immediate admission to the medical college and trauma center.

A skywalk will connect the city bus terminal directly to the medical college, providing easy access for patients arriving via city buses.

The construction of the medical college and trauma center is nearing completion, with the teaching hospital being a seven-story structure, including the basement and ground floor. Additionally, hostels will include 11 and 15 floors.

Construction commenced on April 1, 2022, with an initial target completion date of July 31, 2024. However, the deadline has been extended, and the inauguration is expected later this year.

The project was first announced by the then Chief Minister M.L. Khattar on June 29, 2017.

For the development of the city bus terminal, GMDA plans to acquire 7.2 acres of land from the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram at a cost of Rs 40 crore based on the circle rate.

Approximately Rs 35 crore will be allocated for the construction of the bus terminal. The land transfer from the corporation is pending, and GMDA will prepare a detailed project report.

Rapid development has occurred in sectors along Dwarka Expressway, including Sectors 102, 103, 104, 106, 108, and 109, leading to population growth and increased access to the medical college and bus terminal.

A GMDA official stated, "The first phase involves building the city bus terminal in Sector-103. Following its completion, facilities for the helipad and skywalk will be added, with land acquired from the Municipal Corporation for this project."
