Gurugram, Jan 19 (NationPress) In a significant step towards the extension of the Metro line from Millennium City Center to Cyber City, Haryana's Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh conducted a site visit of the proposed expansion route on Sunday. He was accompanied by officials from Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) and GMDA, during which he provided essential directives.

The preparation of the DPR for this Metro project is currently underway. The minister emphasized that public facilities must be prioritized according to his guidelines.

Singh thoroughly reviewed the proposed route and urged officials to expedite the Metro project while ensuring public convenience.

Moreover, he instructed the officials to devise plans that would prevent any disruption to the public during construction, allowing for smooth traffic flow.

"When constructing major infrastructure, it is crucial for officials to implement plans that are durable and beneficial to the public. Special attention should be given to preserving existing services such as drainage, electricity, potable water, sewerage, and other vital facilities along the proposed route," he stated.

The Cabinet minister also directed GMDA officials that any construction related to flyovers or underpasses should progress simultaneously with the Metro construction.

While urging officials to finalize the alignment work within a month, he emphasized that the drainage system in Gurugram must remain unaffected throughout this process.

Earlier, Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini convened a meeting with relevant officials in Gurugram in December, where it was communicated that the detailed project report (DPR) for the Metro rail line connecting Millennium City to Cyber City has received approval from both the Central and Haryana governments.

During this meeting, officials stated that construction for the Metro expansion in Gurugram is slated to commence on May 1, 2025. This Metro line will span a total of 28.50 km with 27 stations, including 8 model stations. The project will incur an expenditure of Rs 896.19 crore from the Central government and Rs 4556.53 crore from the Haryana government.

The new Metro will utilize CBTC (Communication-Based Train Control Signal) technology, allowing for a maximum operational speed of 80 km/h. Initially, three coaches will be deployed, with plans to expand to six coaches in the future.
