Himachal Chief Minister Delivers Child to Foster Parent, Urges Public to Adopt

Shimla, Dec 16 (NationPress) Aryan (name changed) was entrusted to his adoptive mother on Monday by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu as part of the ‘Children of the State’ program during an event at Shishu Grih in Tutikandi.
The Chief Minister expressed his congratulations to Aryan’s new mother and offered heartfelt wishes for a bright and successful future for the child.
During the event, the Chief Minister made a sincere appeal to the wealthy members of society to step up and adopt children residing in Shishu Grih and orphanages. He emphasized that the state government is diligently working towards the welfare of underprivileged groups and formulating initiatives in this regard.
He noted that the government now acts as the “mother and father” to 4,000 vulnerable children, officially recognizing them as 'Children of the State.'
The Chief Minister indicated that the government is covering the educational and other necessary expenses for these children to prepare them for future challenges, according to an official statement.
He highlighted the launch of the ‘Mukhya Mantri Sukh-Aashray Yojana’ aimed at supporting the welfare of at-risk children.
Currently, 49 Bal-Balika Ashrams are being supported across Himachal Pradesh under this scheme. He pointed out that Himachal Pradesh was the pioneering state in India to enact legislation focused on the welfare of these children.
Additionally, he mentioned the creation of the Sukh-Aashray Kosh, which plays a crucial role in providing necessary support for the education and future of these children.
The government has also initiated the ‘Indira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojana’ to ensure comprehensive development and well-being for all children in the state. This program aims to enhance education, health, and nutrition for children aged 0-27 years from families with widows, abandoned, divorced, or disabled parents.
