Himanta Biswa Sarma Accuses Congress of Exploiting Ambedkar's Legacy for Political Advantage

Guwahati, Dec 25 (NationPress) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma delivered a strong critique of the Congress party on Wednesday, accusing them of leveraging the name of B. R. Ambedkar solely for political advantage.

Speaking to the media, CM Sarma remarked, "During the long tenure of Congress in power, they have named numerous institutions after the Nehru-Gandhi family; yet, they have failed to name a single university after Ambedkar."

"Forget about a university; has Congress even named a school after Ambedkar? The answer is a resounding no," he emphasized.

Labeling the Congress party as shameless, CM Sarma stated, "In pursuit of political gains, Congress leaders are exploiting the name of B. R. Ambedkar. This act is truly disgraceful for our nation."

The Chief Minister also challenged Congress for not awarding the Bharat Ratna to B. R. Ambedkar.

He stated, "While Congress leaders have honored many individuals with the Bharat Ratna, Ambedkar was overlooked."

Furthermore, CM Sarma accused the Congress party of lacking any portrait of B. R. Ambedkar in their offices.

"Having spent over 22 years in the Congress party, I can confirm that I have never encountered any images of Ambedkar in any of the party's offices," he stated.

Previously, Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi asserted that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has not only "disrespected" B. R. Ambedkar in Parliament but has also insulted the entire Dalit community.

The Nagaon Lok Sabha MP further expressed that the Congress party will persist in their protests against Union Minister Shah's remarks regarding Ambedkar.

Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary for Organization, K. C. Venugopal, commented, "In light of our strong opposition against the offensive and disrespectful remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah about Babasaheb B. R. Ambedkar, the party has resolved to intensify our demand for his resignation."
