Horrific Cow Cruelty: Karnataka Police Arrest Suspect; BJP Calls for Further Measures

Bengaluru, Jan 13 (NationPress) In a disturbing turn of events, the Karnataka Police apprehended a suspect on Monday linked to the brutal act of mutilating the udders of three cows in Bengaluru. This incident has sparked communal tensions throughout the city.

The BJP and the cows' owner have criticized the Karnataka government for its response, alleging foul play in managing the case.

The incident occurred in the Chamarajpet area of Bengaluru on Sunday, intensifying unrest in a region sensitive to communal issues.

Given the gravity of the situation, the police swiftly apprehended the accused.

DCP (West) S. Girish reported, “Some miscreants partially cut the udders of three cows early on January 12 at Vinayak Nagar within the limits of the Cottonpet police station.”

An FIR has been filed under the Cruelty to Animals Act and Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act.

Through their investigation, authorities identified a 30-year-old man, Sheikh Nasru from Champaran District in Bihar, as the perpetrator, who was reportedly intoxicated at the time of the incident, as revealed by DCP Girish.

“He is employed as a helper in a plastic and cloth bag stitching shop located just 50 meters from the incident site. No other individuals were implicated,” the DCP confirmed.

The accused has been taken into custody and will remain in Judicial Custody until January 24.

Fortunately, the cows have been treated and are now out of danger, according to DCP Girish.

Meanwhile, G. Karna, the owner of the injured cows, expressed disbelief that a single individual could commit such an act.

“The government seems to be covering up the case. Why was the accused hastily sent to Judicial Custody without a thorough investigation?” he questioned.

“Those truly responsible for this incident must be held accountable,” he insisted.

BJP leader and former IPS officer Bhaskar Rao claimed that the cow slaughter incidents are part of a broader conspiracy aimed at displacing Hindus from the area to seize land.

During a press conference at the BJP state office in Bengaluru, he condemned a statement made by five-time elected leader Zameer Ahmad Khan regarding purchasing replacement cows for the owner as “shocking.”

He questioned, “Is it appropriate to treat the purchase of cows as a mere game during the Sankranti festival? Do they lack basic humanity?”

“This incident has deeply unsettled the Hindu community, and we are fortunate that no violence erupted in Chamarajpet, which could have sparked communal discord,” he remarked.

Bhaskar Rao also noted that philanthropist Sajjan Rao donated land for an animal hospital a century ago, which now houses over 2,227 animals.

He alleged there are plans to demolish the hospital to construct a school without proper consultation and insisted that the animal hospital should continue to operate without disruption.

A significant protest had previously taken place, led by cow owners.

He condemned the January 12 incident as not only terrible but also unforgivable and demanded that the real culprits be brought to justice.

He accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of granting excessive freedom to Minister Zameer Ahmad Khan, which he described as promoting destructive actions rather than constructive development.

He questioned the lack of a case filed under Section 153 (for inciting enmity) and called for immediate action.

He suggested that these actions aim to force cattle owners out to seize the hospital land.

He criticized the absence of prosecutions under anti-cow slaughter legislation.

Bhaskar Rao demanded the apprehension of the genuine offenders and stated that even if thousands of cows were given back to their owners, it would not absolve the perpetrators of their wrongdoing.

He underscored the need for progress in the impoverished Chamarajpet area. “CM Siddaramaiah, you are engaging in politics. Instead of focusing on development, properties and cattle are under attack,” he accused.

Present at the press conference were BJP state spokesperson Dr. Narendra Rangappa, BJP Bengaluru Central District President Saptagiri Gowda, and District Secretary Uday.
