Mumbai, March 17 (NationPress) In a disturbing event reported from Mumbai, a 42-year-old man is accused of murdering his wife by pushing her in front of an oncoming local train after a domestic altercation. The suspect quickly fled the scene but was apprehended in Surat by the Railway Police Special Task Force.

Police investigations revealed that after the incident, the accused fled towards Thane. He then took a fast local train to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), continued to Dadar, and later switched to another local train heading to Virar. It was discovered that he boarded a Gujarat-bound train from Virar Railway Station. Acting promptly on this intelligence, a police team moved to Surat and arrested him.

The perpetrator, named Rajkumar Gupta, who works as an electrician, confessed to having frequent disputes with his wife, Pushpa Gupta (36), over various domestic matters. He admitted that during one such argument, he pushed her in front of a local train arriving at Platform No. 1 of Mulund Railway Station on the morning of March 14.

Pushpa's brother, Kamlesh Kumar Gupta (30), an Army personnel, stated that the couple often quarreled. He had traveled to Mumbai to help his sister and her 15-year-old son return to their ancestral village in Uttar Pradesh.

On the day of the incident, following another heated argument, Pushpa decided to approach the police. Later, Kamlesh, along with Pushpa and her son, arrived at Mulund Railway Station. However, upon realizing he had forgotten his Army ID card at home, he and his nephew went back to retrieve it. It was during this time that the accused allegedly locked them inside their house in a fit of rage.

The FIR describes how Rajkumar went to Mulund Station, where Pushpa was waiting on Platform No. 1, and pushed her into the path of a moving local train before escaping.

Station passengers quickly notified the Station Master, and railway staff rushed Pushpa to a nearby government hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Kamlesh managed to escape with the assistance of nearby residents. Police confirmed that the entire ordeal was captured on CCTV cameras located at the station.

A case has been registered against Rajkumar under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), based on a complaint filed with the Kurla Government Railway Police (GRP). Further investigations are ongoing.
