New Delhi, May 29 (NationPress) The Chief of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, highlighted the increasing significance of technology in contemporary warfare and stressed the necessity for the nation to be prepared for the future, emphasizing the need to lessen reliance on foreign countries for its own arsenal of arms and ammunition.
"The prevailing global circumstances have made it clear that Atmanirbharata is the sole path forward, and we must position ourselves to be future-ready," stated the IAF chief during his address at the CII Annual Business Summit 2025.
Focusing on the advancements in warfare technology, ACM Singh pointed out that Operation Sindoor serves as a clear beacon for future directions and needs, urging the industry to align with the IAF's requirements for timely delivery.
"Over the next decade, the Air Force will require increased contributions from the industry; however, we must take immediate action and engage in rapid Make in India initiatives to ensure we achieve the 'Now Ready' aspect while 'Design in India' progresses in the near future," he explained.
Regarding India's ambition for a fifth-generation stealth fighter jet, he welcomed the approval for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA).
Opening the AMCA project to private firms marks a pivotal achievement and reflects the government’s trust in the private sector, facilitating greater involvement from industry in defense initiatives, according to the IAF chief.
Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, the Navy chief, who also participated in the CII Annual Business Summit 2025, shared his perspective on the importance of enhancing India’s defense manufacturing ecosystem in line with the government's vision for strategic autonomy and Atmanirbharta.
"India has always been, and will continue to be, a maritime nation—not just by design or geography, but by destiny regarding our future growth. Today, India is unlocking its vast maritime potential, with high-level decisions and policies embodying this broader maritime renaissance," remarked Admiral Tripathi.
