New Delhi, March 25 (NationPress) The Indian government, in conjunction with IBM, is delving into potential partnerships in quantum computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and geospatial AI solutions, as revealed by the Ministry of Science and Technology on Tuesday.
During a meeting with Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, IBM’s Global Head, Arvind Krishna, discussed collaborative opportunities in these cutting-edge technology sectors.
This dialogue coincides with India's advancement in its National Quantum Mission, an initiative designed to position the country as a frontrunner in quantum technology.
Both parties acknowledged India's swift transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which has propelled the nation to the forefront of AI and next-generation innovations.
In their discussions, they examined the application of geospatial AI solutions to enhance technological progress across multiple industries.
Dr. Singh, who oversees the Ministry of State for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, reaffirmed India’s dedication to innovation and the critical role of the private sector in advancing technology.
He remarked, 'India's initiative to allow private investment in the space sector has already been fruitful.'
The minister further noted that the recent decision to permit private involvement in nuclear energy underscores India's aspirations in deep technology.
'India is more amenable than ever to international collaborations in emerging technological fields,' Singh emphasized.
He also mentioned the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), aimed at cultivating a robust research ecosystem, expressing confidence in the capabilities of India's youth to meet development objectives by 2047.
Additionally, the minister highlighted the significance of self-reliance in crucial technologies, asserting that India is competitive with, if not ahead of, many nations in emerging tech domains.
A report released by the NITI Aayog earlier this month underscored the growing influence of quantum computing on national security.
The report stresses that quantum technology is not merely a scientific breakthrough but also a pivotal factor in shaping global power dynamics.
'It has the potential to transform defense, intelligence, and economic security, providing an advantage to nations that master it.'
