Patna, April 26 (NationPress) Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar, emphasized on Saturday that the INDIA Bloc stands resolutely with the Union government in the fight against terrorism, in light of the recent tragic Pahalgam terror attack.
“Terrorism and anti-national actions need to be completely eliminated from their roots in our nation. Until this is accomplished, incidents like Pahalgam will persist. Our foremost priority is ensuring the safety of the country and its citizens,” he stated.
The Bihar LoP reiterated that whatever measures the Union government undertakes against such threats, “the INDIA Bloc will provide unwavering support. This was clearly communicated during the all-party assembly in Delhi,” he mentioned.
Tejashwi Yadav urged that political maneuvering should not be entertained regarding this matter, asserting: “Our struggle is against the terrorists who targeted innocent tourists after inquiring about their religion, and also against those who practice caste discrimination. There should be no ambiguity on this point. The nation stands united, and we must take firm action against these terror elements.”
He also highlighted that crimes and terrorism transcend caste and religion.
“Whether it pertains to terrorism or crime, it is devoid of caste or religion. Our united effort must concentrate on safeguarding the unity and integrity of the nation,” Yadav stated.
At least 26 tourists lost their lives on Tuesday when armed gunmen opened fire on civilians in Baisaran, Jammu and Kashmir.
Eyewitnesses described how a group of heavily armed terrorists emerged from nearby forests, indiscriminately shooting at civilians, the majority of whom were tourists.
Baisran is a picturesque meadow situated three to four kilometers from the Pahalgam market, accessible only by horse due to the absence of a motorable road.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi on Wednesday morning after shortening his trip to Saudi Arabia due to the terrorist attack.
He conducted a brief meeting with NSA Ajit Doval, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri at the airport. PM Modi strongly condemned the terror attack on Tuesday, asserting that those responsible will be held accountable and reaffirming India’s “unwavering” commitment to combat terrorism.
