Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Dec 6 (NationPress) Following the government's regulatory measures in response to the extensive IndiGo incident that stranded numerous travelers, the airline announced on Saturday that it has restored over 95 percent of its network connectivity, now operating to 135 out of 138 destinations in its network.
The budget airline clarified in a recent update that in light of the recent network challenges, "we had to cancel a considerable number of flights and managed to operate just above 700 flights yesterday, connecting 113 destinations."
According to an airline representative, "The primary goal was to reboot our network, systems, and rosters, enabling us to start fresh today with a larger volume of flights and enhanced stability. We’re seeing early improvements."
IndiGo further stated that it is "on track to operate more than 1,500 flights by the end of the day."
"While we recognize that there is much work ahead, we are dedicated to rebuilding our customers' trust. We appreciate the unwavering support and guidance from our partners and government agencies," IndiGo expressed.
"We sincerely apologize once again," an IndiGo spokesperson stated.
Earlier in the day, amidst considerable criticism due to ongoing flight disruptions, IndiGo affirmed that it is prioritizing all customer refunds. This statement followed the government’s directive to the airline to process all outstanding passenger refunds by 8 PM on Sunday.
"We are prioritizing all customer refunds. Additionally, we are collaborating closely with all airports and partners to ensure customers receive timely updates at terminals, on our website, and through direct notifications," IndiGo stated in a previous announcement.
Meanwhile, flight disruptions at IndiGo persisted for the fifth consecutive day, mainly due to an unforeseen pilot shortage stemming from planning oversights. The airline urged customers to verify their flight status prior to heading to the airport and to reach out to customer support for assistance with refunds.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has instructed IndiGo to locate and deliver luggage that was separated from passengers to their residences or chosen addresses within the next 48 hours.
