Indore, May 30 (NationPress) Describing this as the dawn of a new era for Indore, Madhya Pradesh's Urban Development Minister and prominent BJP figure, Kailash Vijayvargiya, announced on Friday that the city, known as the economic capital of the state, is about to experience a much-needed modern transportation system as metro rail services are set to commence on Saturday.
Vijayvargiya, who has spent his entire life in Indore and currently serves as a Cabinet Minister in the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government, proudly remarked that he has witnessed the evolution of the city's transportation from tempo to metro.
Earlier in the evening, during the final round of the Metro ride inspection alongside Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Tokha Sahu, Minister Vijayvargiya expressed his heartfelt sentiments and cherished memories from his six decades in his hometown.
"I am elated that Indore has successfully transitioned from tempo to metro. We have traveled on tempos, and today we are experiencing metro travel," Minister Vijayvargiya stated, emphasizing, "these are historic and proud moments for all of Madhya Pradesh."
This marks the inaugural launch of metro rail services not only in Indore but also in Madhya Pradesh, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to virtually inaugurate the operations during his visit to Bhopal for the celebration of the 300th birth anniversary of the revered queen Ahilyabai Holkar on Saturday.
Beginning Saturday, Indore residents can enjoy free metro rides for the initial week.
To board the train, all they need to do is scan a QR code at the metro station.
To encourage the public to utilize this new transportation option, the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) will introduce a promotional discount initiative for the first three months.
While the first week of travel will be complimentary, the second week will offer a 75 percent discount, followed by a 50 percent discount in the third week, and a 25 percent discount extending into the third month.
The fare for the five-station route between Gandhi Nagar and Super Corridor-3 is expected to range from Rs 20 to Rs 30, as communicated by the Madhya Pradesh government.
