Burhanpur (Madhya Pradesh), May 1 (NationPress) Rahul Chauhan, a young resident of Ichhapur village in Madhya Pradesh’s Burhanpur district, has set a remarkable benchmark of self-sufficiency by initiating goat and poultry farming under the Central government's National Livestock Mission. This initiative was launched under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This program has not only uplifted Rahul Chauhan financially but has also motivated other young individuals in his community to adopt similar ventures.
Rahul secured a loan of Rs 1 crore through the scheme, which included a 50 per cent subsidy. With this funding, he established a state-of-the-art goat farm on his property, where he successfully raises over 550 goats.
His farm showcases premium goat breeds such as Jamunapari, Barbari, Black Bengal, Sirohi, and Beetal. Beyond goat farming, Rahul is also involved in indigenous poultry farming and cattle rearing, generating milk, meat, eggs, and organic manure. The goat manure and urine significantly enhance the soil fertility of his farmland, consequently increasing agricultural productivity.
Rahul stated: "The National Livestock Mission led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made me self-sufficient. Today, I not only support my livelihood but also encourage other youth in my village to pursue this business. I am genuinely thankful to PM Modi."
Dr. Heera Singh Bhawar, Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry, mentioned that Rahul received both technical and financial guidance under the initiative. He added, “Rahul’s endeavor is a tangible example of how government programs, when executed effectively, can revolutionize the lives of rural youth.”
Village elder Purushottam Rajaram commended Rahul, stating: “He is an educated young man from our village. Despite being qualified, he opted for goat farming instead of conventional jobs. Through animal husbandry and agriculture, he earns well and provides jobs to migrant workers. People from outside visit his project. He earns between Rs 15 to Rs 20 lakh annually. We express our gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for endorsing such initiatives.”
